There’s a light, good-hearted nature to “No Reservations” that’s quite gorgeous, if a shrimp predictable. This is unbiased as powerful a myth of life as it is a sage of romance, and we all know the formulas such films follow: a person’s world is rearranged when someone modern enters his or her life, and the laughter, tears, and conflict will be plentiful. I expected nothing less from “No Reservations,” which is probably why I was able to bask in it. This is a charming, comical, touching film that casts away any qualms about being formulaic, which is a favorable thing for anyone in need of romantic escapism. I don’t dare examine how realistic the events of the film are; this is not a film that bothers with realism, but rather with the idealism that life is supposed to work in a specific plan. At times, it’s a welcome diversion.

The spot concerns Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones), the executive chef of an upscale Novel York restaurant. We immediately glean the sense that hers is a very organized, controlled world; while not explicitly important or demeaning, she is fiercely protective of what she’s worked so hard for, namely her residence at the restaurant. Here’s a person that’s strong on the outside but deeply frightened on the inside, exemplified by her inability to receive criticism (never complain about the food she prepares; you’ll definitely regret it) . For these reasons, she’s ordered into therapy. She beautiful powerful dominates her occupy sessions with incessant discussions on food preparation–appetizing, yes, but not exactly enlightening. Her therapist (Bob Balaban) is initially unable to ask any questions or give any advice. Clearly, she’s vexed to let anyone seek information from her personal life.

Her world is turned upside down when her sister dies in a car accident, leaving leisurely a daughter, Zoe (Abigail Breslin) . Because there’s no father in the portray, Kate is now faced with the responsibility of caring for her. But will she know what to do? A child has never been a fragment of her life; being a chef is the only life she’s ever known. She knows virtually nothing about Zoe, not even her accepted color. Furthermore, Zoe has lost her mother, meaning she’ll need the extra emotional attend Kate may not be able to give. It will be an adjustment, and a tough one at that; not only is Zoe unwilling to eat, she’s also unwilling to let Kate gain conclude.

In this regard, she takes honest after her aunt, whose defensiveness runs on high after a recent chef is hired. Slash (Aaron Eckhart) is a man with a smart, free-spirited advance to cooking: he listens to opera; he actively engages the other chefs; he’s charming and witty. Kate finds him threatening, and initially treats him as such by being cool, important, and distant. But when she decides to bring Zoe to work with her one night, she notices how well Zoe and Cut come by along. He even gets her to eat. Thus begins a strained friendship that the audience knows will progress into something more. Of course, that’s exactly what the audience hopes will happen. Quite simply, Slit is fun to be around and Kate is not; their coming together allows her to lighten up and let someone in emotionally.

As the film progresses, the relationship between Kate, Zoe, and Lop develops, not necessarily as it would for a family, but rather as it would for a group of friends. I never once opinion that Zoe would ever gawk Carve and Kate as parental figures, which is objective as veteran on Zoe’s fraction as it is murky. Likewise, I never once belief that Kate saw herself as a mother, despite her growing esteem for Zoe. The dynamic between these three characters is complex, especially when a number of other conflicts are introduced. For one thing, Zoe fragile residence causes problems at school. It also threatens to end everything Kate has tried to carry out. Both are trying, but it’s distinct that a lot of emotional baggage remains.

Herein lies the film’s major weakness: most of Kate’s emotional baggage is undefined. We do earn a couple of brief mentions, such as her mother’s passion for cooking and her father’s absence from her life. But none of this is properly developed, and that made her controlling behavior seem less understandable and more uncalled for. Level-headed, I was taken by the dramatic tension between her and Nick; watching an uptight person letting their guard down is both consuming and uplifting. And I was definitely moved by her attempts with Zoe, who’s unprejudiced begging to be hugged and soothed and reassured that everything would be all factual. There’s a moment when she watches home video of her mother; Kate sneaks in, sits down, and holds Zoe tightly. You can practically gaze the emotion dripping off the cloak, which is probably why it’s effective.

Equally as effective is the growing appreciate between Kate and Nick–a like that can go in any direction but ultimately treads the expected path. I’ve seen enough cinematic romances to understand that this is appropriate, maybe even primary. “No Reservations” is the kind of film we occasionally want to stare, if not for plausibility, then for the satisfaction of temporarily disappearing into a fantasy. It plays on our personal desires, namely those of happiness and well being in the midst of a crazy world. At one point, Kate says, “I wish there was a cookbook for life”; I found this clever, despite the overuse of the basic message. If it’s possible for me to be pleased this kind of dialogue–or even a film with this kind of dialogue–then I believe it’s superior to purchase that it’s possible for you, too.

This romantic comedy is likable but extremely predictable. Catherine Zeta Jones plays a chef at an upscale NYC restaurant who has devoted her life to being a tremendous chef. So remarkable so that she doesn’t have time for anything else. Her sister is killed in a car crash on the contrivance to visit leaving her with her daughter to raise as her absorb. Meanwhile the current assistant chef is a carefree guy who brings expansive changes with him. Can you explore it coming? Catherine doesn’t like him at first, but then….Yes you guessed it. The memoir is okay and the acting is proper enough, but there is nothing unique here. This is a sterling rental to gaze with the girlfriend or wife.

There is a group of people who adore to feel fine by disdaining things that everyday people be pleased. One of those things is a John Wayne movie. I am one who really enjoys John Wayne movies. He had a mountainous cloak presence, even when he was older, as he was here, in the Rooster Cogburn movies, and especially in the gigantic movie “The Shootist”.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Cahill – United States Marshal! Click Here

This movie is really about fathers and sons, and particularly absent fathers and sons who accept the obnoxious path and try to gather serve to the good design. Wayne plays the title character, J. D. Cahill. The opening scene is him on the road taking on a band of five dreadful guys in a shootout that ends the scheme you would inquire the hero to play in a John Wayne film.

Cahill is an older man and we learn that he has young sons, one, Danny, a young teen and the other, Budger, a young boy. Their mother died. In a touching conversation with Danny, regretting his not being around for them, he acknowledges that he has focused too considerable on his job. He does effect that when Danny’s mother (Cahill’s dear wife) was dying her last words to Cahill were, “Go Regain `Em!”. And so, he has been ever since.

George Kennedy plays one of his best and menacing awful guys, Abe Fraser. I don’t want to collect into the station, but he does suck Danny and Budger into his plans. And it is the boys trying to extricate themselves without letting their father in on their problems that ends up causing most of the problems. The crisis comes when some innocent men are facing death for the crimes the boys know they and Abe’s gang committed and they have to rep things lawful in time.

You seek information from things to turn out a obvious scheme in a film like this. There aren’t any colossal surprises, but there are some comical and some touching moments along the diagram. And Wayne is quiet quite pleasurable as he holds the camouflage with his modern presence. And Neville Notice as Lightfoot provides some very stunning moments in the film.

I don’t judge it is one of the best things Wayne did, but it is detached better then most films and pleasurable for families. It can provide some capable discussion with your kids, as well.

And it is a John Wayne film.

I liked this chronicle, and the plot that it was acted out by John Wayne. A “Duke Turkey” it isn’t, as it shows the all-too-familiar results of what happens when Dad isn’t around to recall care of the children – a dark case of fatherhood today. John Wayne Plays a U.S. Marshall who’s out after the terrible guys…but ends up with a surprise when his two sons turn out to have helped out in a murder/robbery. Somehow (we aren’t told how), Cahill knows his young sons are in cahoots with George Kennedy’s abominable guys, and they destroy up l;eading him suitable to the criminals and culprits, which ends in a wild shoot-out. It also shows that a father’s teachings, despite his absence, can be the deciding factor in children’s lives, as Cahill’s two sons actually do the factual thing in the raze.

Nobody played the accused innocent any better than John Payne. Colossal and obedient looking, Payne exuded a unruffled upright strength combined with an ability and willingness to mess it up with the awful boys whenever the location dictated. An Eagle Scout with a merit badge in bar brawling.

KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL is a brilliant diminutive crime drama that features Payne as the unluckiest of flower delivery drivers in motion report history. It seems that Mr. Sizable, abominable guy Preston Foster, has been meticulously plotting a bank heist, and an integral section of his concept involves using an precise duplicate of Payne’s truck as the getaway vehicle. Nothing personal, John. The abominable guys don’t even know you.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kansas City Confidential! Click Here

Mr. Astronomical has recruited three thugs (Jack Elam, Lee van Cleef, and Neville Sign) to pull off the heist, taking the precaution of insisting they always wear masks while in each other’s presence. That arrangement, if things go despicable, nobody will know who his accomplices are. For a honorable portion of this movie the only one who has anything going unsuitable is unpleasant John Payne, who is promptly fingered as one of the bank robbers. In this movie, Payne seemingly can’t poke into a room without getting pounded by some bulky cop or surly con.

KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL is briskly paced and offers enough dinky surprises to preserve us on our toes. Phil Karlson was a titanic director, under-appreciated in his time and relegated almost exclusively to B-movie duties. KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL is one of his best. Strongly recommended.

For years Kansas City Confidential has languished in the Public Domain Hell. Released in a woefully noxious version from Alpha (study the video wiggle at the bottom of the hide every 10 seconds), and a mighty better, but composed flawed version from Image (the picure is fair a bit too black and has some minor print afflict), along with several “dollar” DVD versions that were even more flawed than the Alpha and Image releases, Kansas City Confidential was a movie that most Film Noir fans belief would never spy an “official” DVD release by MGM (owner of the master print, and – presumably – the negatives) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kansas City Confidential! Click Here

But here it is – MGM is actually releasing (or has released, depending on when you read this) the “official” DVD for this extraordinary Film Noir. Based on their track portray of releasing official versions of movies previously relegated to public domain releases (contemplate He Walked By Night as an example – MGM’s DVD is flawless!), this should behold a drastic improvement in both image and sound quality over all of the previous versions released to date.

The movie itself is a tightly written, well acted (John Payne is unbelievable, and the supporting cast of Preson Foster, Lee Van Cleef, Neville Imprint, Jack Elam, and Coleen Gray are all advance perfect in their roles), and extremely well directed by Phil Karlson.

This is a classic crime/wrong man framed and sets out for revenge movie. For fans of Film Noir this is truly a, “Must Have,” DVD.

Update – The DVD is, as expected, a Gigantic improvement over the Image release, which istself is great better than the Alpha version. MGM/Fox have done a very nice job on the quality of this release – the print feeble is obedient. Even if you already have a previous version of Kansas City Confidential you quiet may want to pick up this one for the distinguished improved portray and sound.

I watched this film with magnificent extreme initial expectations… hoping that this so-calleld “Christian” movie would finally smash the “Christian movie” stereotype I had arrive to… well… hate and examine. With Steve Taylor at the helm… I concept, “Maybe. Unprejudiced maybe…”

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Second Chance! Click Here

Truthfully — it exceeded all my expectations. Smartly written, smartly directed, and even well-acted… for the most piece.

(I shouldn’t even impress it as a superior “Christian” movie. It’s fair a worthy movie. Period. I contemplate a lot of people will relish this film.)

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Second Chance! Click Here

Michale W. Smith does a elegant estimable job playing the talented music minister, Ethan Jenkins — the son and successor-to-be of the successful Pastor Jeremiah Jenkins, senior pastor of The Rock (Mega) Church and founding pastor of the inner city church, The Second Chance.

Smith plays an bewitching character. While his enjoy road to success may have been paved by that of his father, he wants to do the true thing and has a ample heart. A bit naive, perhaps, in his thought of life and ministry, he is greatly affected by what he sees and experiences at The Second Chance Church when he is sent there by a miffed church board as “punishment” for being a exiguous to loose with the church’s live television broadcasts.

Jeff Carr is very charming and convincing as the passionate – “in your face” – and somewhat jaded-by-reality Pastor Jake Sanders. He believes strongly in the ministry of the Second Chance Church in his community — but he’s allowed his enrage and his temper to cloud some of his decisions and judgment. (Sanders’ tongue is actually what gets Ethan Jenkins in concern when Jenkins gives him some air-time on the The Rock’s live televised program — “Well, then… you can unprejudiced hold your damn money!”)

Jenkins and Sanders are then forced to work together. Sanders’ inner-city design of “ministry” is sometimes more than wide-eyed, open-mouthed Jenkins can swallow… (When Sander slams a drug-pushing gang-member up against the fence and threatens to wreck his arm if the gangster doesn’t let his shrimp brother “out” of the family business… well, Jenkins hardly knows what to do with himself.)

Both Jenkins and Sanders go through some aesthetic important yet believable changes as they learn from each other — perhaps Jenkins moreso from Sanders. And even Ethan’s father, Pastor Jeremiah Jenkins, has to face the reality that even though his ministry at The Rock has gone global, he has forgotten where it all started… leading the movie’s climax to a heartfelt and satisfying “conclusion.”

Pick it up. It’s a proper flick.

When youre a Christian boy, whos outlook is a cramped skewed friends can be handsome hard to near by. In those moments of loneliness, when the television cant hold your time. You sometimes turn to the voices that construct so great sense. For me it was Michael W. Smith and Steve Taylor. Smith I discovered when I was 10. His album Go West Young Man wore out my cassette player. I knew every word and sang every song, Id even save on funny small concerts in my room. The simple lyrics touched me, encouraged me, and I also found that at Bible camp if you can learn all those Michael W. Smith songs the girls will pay attention to you. My early teens were shaped by these lyrics and forever changed my world concept.

But alas we grow up, my Christian tapes were thrown into a drawer and Nine Dart Nails and Nirvana became the music I rocked out too. I really started doubting if any of this religion stuff was worth a hill of beans and then Christmas 1994 came and I opened a brightly colored package that had an modern video in it. It was Steve Taylors opinion video called “NOW THE TRUTH CAN BE TOLD” it introduced me to a man who was one share Lenny Bruce, One portion the Clash, and three parts John the Baptist. Steve Taylor was the one man I wanted to be like, the one man whose music answered questions and convicted me. I issue you I never would have survived my teenage years without him and weve never even met.

Then I grew up I got into Christian Radio and I have had an opportunity to meet many of the stars in the genre. Ive eaten lunch with Greg Long, had Bart Millard effect a banana I sold on Ebay, and Im on hugging terms with Steven Curtis Chapman. But when I got to meet Michael W. Smith at Radio City Music Hall, all I could say over and over again was it was an honor to meet you as my knees shook. I had become a thirteen year boy again. Dont ask me about what happened when I sat five feet away from Steve Taylor at a lunch sponsored by the film Im about to review. I was stuck in some pointless icebreaker use and I view it would be coarse to jump up and cause a scene, also I was shaking so noteworthy I dont know what I would have said if I met him anyway. So alas I havent gotten to talk to him yet. But one day I may be able too and that would be awesome.

All this to say I have been eagerly awaiting THE SECOND CHANCE. A film that was written and directed by Taylor and starring Smith. Imagine my two childhood heroes making a film together. It was too mighty for me to maintain. Unfortunately my job pulled me away from the Novel Jersey premiere so I borrowed the DVD screener from work and watched it with my wife as the Original York Metropolitan situation got hit with 2 feet of snow.

THE SECOND CHANCE follows Ethan Jenkins (Michael W. Smith) a suburban pastor whose life is honest getting comfortable. He had a successful recording career that ended in rehab, and has since taken the associate pastor gig at The Rock, his fathers mega-church deep in the heart of suburbia. When Ethans methods find in the draw of the church boards plans he is sent to The Second Chance Community Church. Its a microscopic inner city church Ethans father started when Ethan was a child and hes there to learn and ogle. Second Chance is in the middle of the inner city and is presided over by Pastor Jake (Jeff Carr), a archaic pro basketball player who is trying to build his community from the pickle of gangs and drugs. Its an uphill battle and he sees Ethan as honest another suburban do-gooder that will leave when the going gets tough. Can these men work together? Will Ethan stick with Pastor Jake? Or will other insidious plans cause a rift in the hood?

THE SECOND CHANCE is a film with very lofty goals. Its a film that reveals one of the biggest problems that is plaguing the Christian Church in America: racial and class seperation. There is a quandary with terms like “Sad Church” and “White Church.” and “Rich Church” and “Bad Church.” Theyre deceptive. There is only one church and we all should be invited. Ethan and Jake are two souls caught in the middle. Ethan is out of his comfort zone at Second Chance and Jake is tired of the Suburban church throwing money at his neighborhood problems and not helping out. Does the Second Chance film succeed in opening our eyes to the problems in our contain backyard? It does.

Director Taylor fills his film with rich shining characters. But at times his actors cant glean into them. For instance I particularly loved the sassy women playing the choir leader. She has such a miniature role and yet she fills it with color and realism. Other performers fair arent as skilled and the dialogues they have sound like dialogue and not dependable life conversations.

As for the two leads, Smith and Carr give competent performances. Both are first time film actors and against the odds grow into their characters. There are a few moments early on that felt a shrimp wooden but as the film progresses I bought their relationship, and them as the characters.

The major flaw with the film is the long winded first act. The script dumps a lot of dwelling conflict on the account and the long journey around the hood confused me a small. But then there is this scene with Smith, a microscopic child, and a paper plate. WOW! Taylor and Smith nail it. This was a tiny moment in a lot of disjointed clutter that was perfect. I hoped for more objective moments like that and they definitely came. If you are a Christian and are not moved by the foot washing scene that comes later in the film Id doubt your faith (oh Im unprejudiced kidding) .

I also liked that the film had a helpful natured sense of humor. There were moments when I saw Taylors wit and advantageous natured ribbing poking out. Trust me you wont scrutinize at prayer and a lottery effect the same contrivance again.

But how will this admittedly “Christian Film” play to the unchurched masses? I dont really know. It feels more like an exhortation to the Christian Community and I wonder how someone on the outside would be able to follow it. That is not a negative. If this film gets the Christian community to enter into a discussion about how to fix a ample divide between the rich and bad, between the Gloomy Church and the White Church, then I applaud it. But it is also a ample search for into what goes on inside the Christian community and may cause those who dont quite understand to ask questions and there is nothing contaminated with dialogue.

THE SECOND CHANCE is not a perfect film, but it tries and it has guts. Moreover its watchable and more importantly unprejudiced. I liked it an applaud all eager. Now everyone go to Amazon.com and tidy them out of Chagall Guevara CDs, this was Taylors early 90’s rock band. Trust me its the greatest album ever

Hopefully a Special Edition of this film will be released that will feature both the Theatrical and Producer’s Cut versions of this film.

Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers is my favorite Halloween sequel, and, despite having horrible reviews, is the second best of the series (the first being part 1, of course). The movie realized that the series was getting pretty dull by part 5, so it adds a lot of new plot twists, like Michael being involved in some cult called “Thorn” that makes one person kill every member of his family. You’ll also find out in this one who the Man In Black really is (I’ll give you a hint, he was in ONE scene from the original).

The movie begins with Jamie Lloyd (no longer Danniele Harris, but J.C. Brandy) having a baby, which is then stolen by the man in black, who is going to make this baby Michael’s sacrifice. However, a kind woman working there helps Jamie escape with her baby. This woman then meets her fate, impaled to a coat hanger by Michael Myers, who is now stronger and more enraged than ever!! Jamie does get away, and hides her baby at a bus depot, before she, to, meets her maker. Then, we go on to meet Kara Strode (Marriene Hagan) and her family. She’s got a seven year old boy. She’s going to college to make up for her past mistakes. Her father, John, dosn’t approve of her staying at his place, where he already has two other people living, his wife, and his son, John (Bradford English). John Strode is an abusive alcoholic, who mistreats his entire family. Kara is a little bit creeped out by this man who’s staring at her out his window. Well, this man happens to be Tommy Doyle (Paul Steven Rudd), who was being babysat by Laurie Strode when Myers attacked in 1978. He’s a little messed up by this particular incident, and he thinks that Michael’s returning. He was also listening to this particular radio show the night before, and recorded when Jamie screamed “Help Me” to the show. He tracks the area she was calling from down to the bus depot, where he finds her baby. Meanwhile, Kara is being stalked by Michael, but doesn’t realize it. And, to make things worse, her little son is hearing a voice that says “Kill For Me”. Who’s going to survive THIS Halloween? Watch and see.

Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers is a very underrated Halloween film. It is propably (aside from Part 3) the least popular of the series, but I can’t understand why. My least favorite film is actually Part 4. This movie is great, it’s scary, funny, shocking, gory, mysterious. Everything to make a perfect horror film (including suspense). Yes, it’s very hard to make to much sense of it, but that’s what makes it more intelligent. And there is so much gore! I know Part 1 is famous for being almost completely bloodless, but blood was needed at this point. It’s definetly the most extremly graphic of the whole series. But still, it’s got a plot, and a fine plot, I must say. The Myers mask is back to normal, as is his house (where the Strode family is living). The man behind the mask this time, George P. Wilbur (Michael in Part 4), is far superior to that guy, Donald Shank, who played him in the fifth one. But, then, in H2O, the man behind the mak is HORRIBLE!! And YOU CAN SEE HIS EYES!!! But in this, you can’t see Michael’s eyes, and he’s played eerily. Nice job Mr. Wilbur!

As for this DVD, well, it’s OK. No special features (aside from sneak peek trailers for H2O and the Scream Box Set), but it’s presented in widescreen, and has nice, clear picture. I’m dieing to see that Producer’s Cut, which is apparentally almost a different film. It’d be awesome to release a DVD with both versions on it, but for now, this one’s OK. If I were you, though, I’d wait a little bit, and I’m sure they’ll release the producer’s cut.

If you found my review helpful, don’t forget to vote for me!!!!

Four years of frustration (and bitterness towards Paramount Home Video) were lifted when I learned Season 4 of Taxi is being released next September 22. My daily routine of checking for any sign of Taxi on [...] will finally have to come to an end.

At last we’ll be able to watch such classic episodes as the one where Louie’s mother marries the Japanese guy (Louie: “she’ll never adjust !”); the one where Elaine pokes Louie’s eye for spying her while changing (Elaine: “why are you crying only on that one eye ?” Louie: “It’s not the end of the world “); the one where Louie takes revenge on Ted Danson for ruining Elaines hair (Alex: “you’re better than that Elaine”, Louie: “She may be better than that, I’m not”). And how about Latka’s wedding, Jim forecasting the TV ratings, etc., etc., etc.?

I have to think Season 5 won’t be that far off, at least not until 2013 or something like that. That’s the season Taxi switched from ABC to NBC and for whatever reason I never got to see a single episode.

Plenty to look forward to, that’ for sure.

As another reviewer has written, there’s a missing scene in one episode where Jim plays the piano. And yes, you can see a snippet of that scene in the closing credits. I suspect it’s because there’s music involved and the DVD producers didn’t want to pay for the rights. I’m also almost 100 percent certain that another snippet is missing in the episode where Louie catches a mouse and releases it off-camera at the end of the episode. I could swear that episode ends with him singing just a few words from “Born Free.” The most-notorious DVD butchery was the WKRP DVD set, which I never bought. This set is not nearly as bad because so little music is used apart from Bob James’ wonderful score. I haven’t finished watching Season Four yet. I’m hoping these two cheap cuts are the extent of the edits. Be warned.

This is a tough movie to review, mostly because there is NO right answer. Some say it’s a bad movie, (my sister) others say it’s the best movie they every saw (My friend) And others say it’s a O.k. film (me) I was mostly fascinated on the vast amount of detail the animators used on these Autobots and Decepticons. I really like the art and the beautiful colors added to the CGI and special effects. Transformers 2 is one of the most visually entertaining movies of this year. Even though the plot wasn’t as good. in another note, it sometimes felt like there were alot of running around back and forth throughout the whole film. In the end, I can’t say it’s the best movie ever but I won’t say it’s the worst movie ever but If your still curious about watching it for the first time, I say rent it first before you buy.

Turn off your reasoning mind and just enjoy some typical Michael Bay blowing up all the scenery. The CGI and sound mix in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen are equally amazing. Truly a fantasy escapist film to make you forget that your job and health care are pretty much trashed as a bunch of big robots trash the planet. I knocked off a star for the film having too many extraneous characters, like the cyborg babe and the nitwit roomie, but I got a kick out of the little “turncoat” Decepticon robot with the guy from Spongebob doing a spot-on Steve Buscemi impression for its voice. Two and a half hours of unrelenting action with a good message about family thrown in. Loved it. Just don’t expect me to explain it. Should have won an Oscar for sound and the intricate CGI is a treat.
